Sip, snack, and sunset: a perfect day at Frankston Beach

by - April 28, 2023

Dear beautiful souls,

After visiting the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park (see my last post about it), you'll be happy to know that there's another great destination just a short distance away. Frankston Beach, located only a 30-minute drive from the sanctuary, is a stunning beach destination that offers visitors the chance to soak up the sun, swim in crystal-clear waters, and enjoy delicious food and drinks at nearby restaurants.

Upon arrival, visitors will be greeted by pristine white sand and clear blue waters, making for a picturesque setting. The beach is perfect for a day of relaxation, with plenty of space to sunbathe or take a dip in the refreshing water. And with its close proximity to the city center, it's a convenient escape from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne.

One of the best places to grab a bite to eat and a refreshing drink is the Iron and River Bar, located near to the beachfront. During happy hour, visitors can take advantage of great deals on cocktails, beers, and wines, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a long day of exploring. Their menu features a range of tasty dishes, from steaks to burgers and loaded fries. We chose the loaded fries and Philly cheese steaks, which were both delicious and satisfying. The loaded fries were topped with ranch, BBQ sauce, crunchy bacon, and melted Mexican blend cheese, creating a mouth-watering explosion of flavor. The grilled scotch fillet steak rolls were piled high with onions and covered in cheese sauce, making for a hearty and satisfying meal.

We also tried the buffalo wings, which were crispy and flavorful, and the happy hour cocktails, which were expertly crafted and refreshing. The bar also offers a great selection of classic Australian beers, and I was excited to try Victoria Bitter for the first time. Overall, the food, drinks, and atmosphere at Iron and River Bar made for a memorable dining experience and a perfect way to cap off a day at the beach.

Everything we ordered there:
  • Victoria Bitter/bottle: $7.5
  • Carlton dry/bottle: $7.5
  • Strawberry daiquiri/happy hour price: $13
  • Buffalo wings/6pc/happy hour price: $1
  • Loaded fries: $16.9
  • Philly cheese steak rolls: $21.9

Whether you're a local or a visitor to Melbourne, a trip to Frankston Beach and Iron and River Bar is a must-do. With its beautiful scenery, delicious food and drinks, and friendly atmosphere, it's the perfect destination for a day trip or a weekend getaway.

With love from B ♥
